A wonderful tour on the Müggelspree. I started a bit late and struggled to get to Erkner and the next train stop before sun down. It is very peaceful as no motor boats are allowed to travel this part of the spree. The river winds itself through Brandenburg east of Berlin.

Starting point was the Kanuport-Spree in Hangelsberg where you can purchase or rent kajaks and canoes. The owner was very friendly and I was able to inflate my boat and put it to water there. If you want, you can rent rooms there on a longer canoing tour.
I decided to take the train and carry the boat. It is the RE1 to Frankfurt (Oder) that sometimes stops in Hangelsberg. If not, continue to Fürstenwalde and take the next train back one stop.
My canoe is a rather small, transportable and inflatable single kayak which is a bit slow on the water. The average speed I usually paddle at is 3.7 km/h.

There are many birds. I spotted three Kingfishers but they always flew away from the boat about 100 m ahead of me. I could all but catch a glimpse of the shiny blue.
This tour is part of a larger tour called the “Märkische Umfahrt”. For more information see flussinfo.net.
